Take a break from work: watch a trailer…


It’s nice that LeBron James made the big time. I wonder if the film makes the point that even though our culture holds out pro sports as a possible option for escaping poverty, very very few people can make it the way he did. It’s not even about talent — it’s about how few slots there are for anyone to play in pro sports.

Not that I’m trying to lessen James’s accomplishments. It’s just, you know, these kinds of documentaries are often aspirational in tone, and I’m not sure how fair that is.

More Than a Game is now playing in limited release in the U.S.; no U.K. release date has been announced.
