trailer break: ‘Transylmania’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer…

I’m thinking this is what happened: The “creative” team of directors David and Scott Hillenbrand and writers Worm Miller and Patrick Casey — who previously brought us the beloved and acclaimed Oscar winner National Lampoon Presents Dorm Daze — were sitting around toking up one night, and someone said, “Semester abroad in Transylvania!” And cinematic history was made.

Next Friday, December 4, there are four films opening wide: the potential awards contenders Everybody’s Fine (trailer here) and Brothers (trailer)… and Armored (trailer), which will not screen for critics, and this film, which I also suspect will not screen for critics. I guess that’s clever counterprogramming, and it’s probably safe to assume that the people who wish to avoid potential awards contenders are probably not bright enough to catch on that they’re being particularly targeted that weekend because they’re neither choosy nor discriminating.

Man, this looks so dumb, I think I lost brain cells just watching it and trying to contemplate how bad the not-funniest stuff must be if all the “funniest” stuff is here…

Transylmania opens in the U.S. on December 4; no U.K. release date has been announced yet.

It’s horribly conceived and horribly directed movies like this that give me hope that with $50,000 of my own money to waste I could actually do better. >:-)

So, um, anyone got $50,000 lying around?

From the title, I honestly thought that the movie would be about transsexuals. Hollywood continues to disappoint.
