Well, at least it’s a movie about a girl.

My first reaction was “I know that girl”, she’s-

…and then had to think about it for a second… because I don’t know one exactly like her, but she is pretty close to about 20 different girls I’ve known or been friends with over the last 15 years or so, almost like a mosaic of them.

I don’t exactly ever have a chance to have that reaction very often. Scold about the attitude if you want, but it is a very true to life attitude right down to the ‘too awkward and cute to pull off pop-punk but still going to try anyway because life sucks and I want you to know it’ thing. Most girls I’ve known who’ve been sent off or outright abandoned by their exasperated mom like that end up with the same look and attitude.

Yes, the movie may still heap syrupy mountains of sugar all over the whole thing. I’m not getting my hopes up. But at least it makes me wish I knew how to get in touch with a couple of old friends to see if they’re ok now.
