my week at the movies: ‘Clash of the Titans,’ ‘The Last Song,’ ‘Kick-Ass’

My week at the movies is one-third over already: it’s a truncated week, what with Easter and Passover and kids’ spring break and all that stuff. There weren’t many screenings for me to choose from this week, and I’m only seeing a few movies. I just came from a screening of Clash of the Titans (opens in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. on April 2). It’s epic, all right, but not in the ways that were probably intended. More details on Thursday…

Kick-Ass (opens in the U.K. on April 2, and in the U.S. and Canada on April 16) has dorky teenaged boys and foul-mouthed teenaged girls. Apparently, it is not a documentary.

The Last Song (opens in the U.S. and Canada on March 31; no U.K. release date has been announced) is a Buena Vista movie, which means Disney, which means I was not invited to see this movie in advance of its opening, because Disney continues not to like my tone. It makes me laugh every time I think about that: It’s like I’m being scolded by a nun for being a recalcitrant eighth-grader. And I love it. I must be doing something right if frakkin’ Disney is pissed off…
