Take a break from work: watch a trailer…
Really? Is Hollywood simply incapable of giving us anything close to comedy and/or romance these days that does not involve random physical humiliation “humor”? There aren’t enough genuine challenges and weirdnesses involved in a long-distance romance that idiotic and ridiculous ones have to be invented? Pubic hair on the dining room table? Come on! And what’s with the fake tanning nonsense? If Drew Barrymore didn’t care about Justin Long’s veiny white skin before, as she obviously did not, why is there any worry now?
Director Nanette Burstein made the very intriguing and honest documentary American Teen. I hope this is not yet one more example of an interesting and unconventional filmmaker who goes to work for Hollywood and suddenly forgets everything that made her interesting in the first place.
Going the Distance opens in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. on August 27.
