trailer break: ‘Waiting for ‘Superman’’

Davis Guggenheim made An Inconvenient Truth, and now he is shouting from the rooftops something we all know but don’t seem to care, as a society, to do anything about: Education in the United States sucks. The disconnect it requires to insist that America is the greatest country in the world — as so many gung-ho patriots yell — and not make educating our children a top priority is astonishing.

Instead, worrying about education is left to lefty progressive documentary filmmakers in niche arthouse films. As if this weren’t a problem everyone should be horrified about.

Waiting for “Superman” opens in the U.S. on September 24; no Canadian or U.K. release dates have been announced. Though why would it open internationally, except for non-U.S.ians to laugh at us?
