Via Mashable, we discover that Netflix’s announcement that it is splitting its DVD-by-mail and streaming services into separate businesses seems to have happened without even a quick glance at Twitter.

For @Qwikster is already taken… by someone calling himself Jason Castillo, who does an excellent impersonation of a subliterate 14-year-old idiot who thinks he’s extremely cool.

Netflix has a coming-soon placeholder up at qwikster.com, but one must wonder what they were thinking they would do about Twitter. If they even thought of it at all.
