question of the day: How are you celebrating Charles Dickens’ birthday?

Today is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens. You know this is a big deal because Google has a special logo for it:
Google Dickens

How are you celebrating Charles Dickens’ birthday?

Are you waiting by the docks in New York for news of Little Nell? Are you doing a bit of pickpocketing in honor of the Artful Dodger? Are you writing a fanfiction ending for The Mystery of Edwin Drood?

Continue celebrating here by sharing your favorite Dickens character or book. Which would you like to see newly adapted for the screen (big or small)? Isn’t about time someone made a film about Charles Dickens fighting zombies or killing vampires? Why hasn’t some modern novelist — or more likely, longform narrative television storyteller — stepped into Dickens’ shoes to take up the task of illustrating the plight of the poor and the dramatic inequities in everyday life?
