Netflix add-to-queue links coming soon!

They’ll look like this:
Netflix play add to queue

And with just one click, you’ll be able to add that particular movie to your Netflix queue or watch it instantly right there (if it’s available to stream, that is — but that one click will check for you). If you’re not logged in, you’ll get a prompt to log in first.

Here’s the catch: These Netflix buttons will be appearing only on the Movie Cheat Sheet pages for films. If I had a better way to limit this convenience to subscribers, I would — but I don’t at the moment. Links to those pages are available in the Movie Cheat Sheet newsletters. (Alas, it’s not possible to add the buttons directly into an email, or I’d do that, too. It’s a Javascript thing.)

If you’d like to be able to take advantage of this one-click convenience, please subscribe to Movie Cheat Sheet, or subscribe to FlickFilosopher.com (which comes with a free sub to the Cheat Sheets). If you already subscribe to FlickFilosopher.com but have not signed up for the MailChimp email list (or if you left the MailChimp list for some reason), please rejoin that list. (There’s a link on the subscriber info page you should have bookmarked. Email me if you need help. It’s a good idea to remain on that MailChimp list even if you don’t want to receive the Cheat Sheets or the daily digest emails, because I will be using it to notify subscribers of new benefits and bonuses by occasional email.) I’ll notify FlickFilosopher.com subscribers who don’t want to get the Cheat Sheets how they can take advantage of this… but you need to be on that MailChimp list for me to do so.

Do you use Netflix Canada or Netflix UK? I think you’ll be able to use these new Netflix buttons just fine, but if you’d like to help me test that, please drop me a line. It should only be a matter of a few minutes to give it a whirl.

UPDATED TO ADD: I’ll give a free sub to Movie Cheat Sheet (if you don’t already have one) to the first Netflix people in Canada and the U.K. who volunteer a few minutes to help me check that those Netflix buttons will work outside the U.S.

This is a great idea and it just might cause me to get a Netflix account. Do you get money for this?

I won’t get any money, which is why I have to limit it to those who are already supporting my work.

Netflix is definitely worth the $9 a month. Moreso if you have the ability to stream it to your TV. It’s awesome.

I’m the freak here who doesn’t own a television. I also probably don’t have enough spare time to make the $9 a month worth it. I think I’d rather just boost my subscription rate to MAJ.

That works too. Also another good way to support MaryAnn is to use her Amazon affiliate link when you buy shit on Amazon. MAJ I just spent $900 on computer stuff the other day, I hope you got a nice commission!

Yup. Everything I buy from Amazon goes through her link. I buy from there quite frequently, so I hope she’s benefiting somehow.

I don’t see anything like that on my affiliate reports yet. Probably won’t show up until your stuff ships.

So do you watch all your movies/TV on the computer? Just curious.

The last TV show I watched was the first season of Treme. I borrowed the dvd from the library and watched it in teaspoon-sized doses on my computer. I do watch somethings on the computer; otherwise, I live in NY and go to theaters. It is more convenient and psychologically more fulfilling. It is also more likely to happen ’cause if I’m @ home, I see chores and tasks all around me. Very likely to be distracted and not watch the movie all the way through.

I use Blockbuster Online, so this won’t affect me. I DO use the dvd release sheet to remind me of what came out that week, though.

Blockbuster is still around? Wonders never cease…

Do they still give money to Operation Rescue?

I signed up for BBOnline probably about 6-7 years ago now. We had a store not far from us, and I got free movie coupons just for using the online service. Damn good deal. Well, of course that store has closed since then, but the service and selection have always been good, so I have no reason to change. *shrugs*

This might be a good thing. On other pressing function, however, would be to allow more than three items on the recently watched list. On the other hand, I found out that Netflix has a complete history.
