Iron Man 3 (yet another trailer)

Nice trailer. Not too spoilerish, unexpectedly darker tone, great money shot at the end. Though maybe that money shot is spoilerish…

(Wait! I see that the money shot is the still on the trailer above. Way to spoil a trailer. Sheesh.)

Has Tony Stark taken some inspiration from Captain America?

Iron Man

Heh.

Nerd alert: that’s actually Rhodes. They repainted the War Machine suit, apparently. In the toy aisles, they’ve officially dubbed this version, “Iron Patriot.”

Of course, in the comics’ storyline, the Iron Patriot armor is used in a much different context – which is frankly more interesting and politically provocative than its apparent use here.

I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say here, that the comic book version of Iron Patriot is Norman Osborn aka The Green Goblin from Spider-Man. Obviously that’s not going to happen here with the two conflicting franchises, but it’s a nice nod to Captain America who does exist in this universe. I wonder what the implications of that are…?
