The Wolverine (trailer)

Or, Logan Goes to Japan and Becomes a Real Boy. But not before he finds the BAR-RUUUUMMMMM! blasts that have been tormenting planet Earth.

But I kid the Wolverine. Basically, any excuse to have Hugh Jackman walk around without his shirt on is a-okay with me.

Personally, I’m surprised he continues to reprise this role. I know it’s probably good money. but you’d think he would want to move on to bigger and better things.

I still need to watch the other Wolverine movie he did.

No. No, you don’t. Unless you’re keen to play a drinking game, in which case, it provides plenty of opportunities for you to get completely hammered.

Well, for one, he has moved on to better. After all, he now gets credited as Academy-award Nominee Hugh Jackman. And for another, he doesn’t just star, he’s produced the last two Wolverine movies, so they represent a significant personal investment for him. And finally, the character of Wolverine has made Jackman very, very rich.

1) he has fun playing Wolverine (who wouldn’t?), 2) Money, Dear Boy, 3) It keeps his name in the media and in the minds of casting agencies to fill appropriate roles elsewhere.
4) also, you know how many women go effing INSANE just looking at him?! He’s live walking catnip baby!

Not to mention very, very ripped. If I can pull off a body like that at age 44, I’ll want to show it off, too.

All kidding aside, I really appreciate Jackman’s dedication to the character and to the fans of said character. Come to think of it, has anyone now played the same superhero character in more movies than Jackman? This one makes it six outings for Wolverine, if you count his cameo in X-Men: First Class, and it will be seven once Bryan Singer wraps Days of Future Past. Sam Jackson is catching up fast with all the Avengers movies, but I think Jackman has the record for now, unless someone can correct me.

Well, Lewis Wilson and Robert Lowry played Batman in 15 serial episodes each. Kirk Alyn played Superman in 30 serial episodes. But serials represent a single story and are less than 20 minutes long, so I don’t know if that counts.

Robert Downey Jr. has appeared as Tony Stark in 5 films, including Iron Man 3 and the post-credit scene in The Incredible Hulk. Sam Jackson only has 4 (IM, IM 2, Thor, Avengers). He’s not listed in the cast of IM 3.

I love Hugh Jackman and am pleased to see him in this. He was really lucky to get the part in first place, have you guys seen his audition tape? He was also lucky that Dougray Scott got delayed on MI:2 and left the door open for him as second choice. As fans, we are lucky too because I can’t imagine Dougray Scott being as good as Hugh, now I’ve seen him play it so many times. I loved him in Les Mis and I hate musicals. Generally a bit of Hugh every day will make you a happier person.

The Wolverine In Japan plot is from one of the better 80s comics that employed his talents. Frank Miller worked on it, before he got worse.

Ah, so this is from a comics plot. Thanks. Looking at the trailer, it seems to me pretty self-defeating: Wolverine is after all an iconic hero, not a dramatic one, so we know he won’t be permanently de-powered and changed into something else. After all, there has to be the possibility of a sequel.

Looks like much less of a POS than Wolverine: Origins. Color me cautiously optimistic.

I’m still skeptical. I was really burned on X-Men Origins: Wolverine… such a terrible, disappointing film (never again saw the movie after that). You’d figure with the money he’s made and the clout he has, that Jackman would demand a better script for these X-Men films. Especially the spinoffs where he’s front-and-center.

And if you’re hankering for some shirtless Jackman, well… that’s what the ‘Net is for.
