if you don’t need a laugh (Tyler Perry Presents Peeples trailer)

I can’t decide which is most desperately unfunny: comical sexual assault by a dog? accidental temptation of an alcoholic? the pairing of a schlubby, apparently charm-free dude with a gorgeous gal who doesn’t appear to respect him? spying on people in intimate situations?

One thing is for sure: as a culture, we need to get past the notion that a man is entitled to police his adult daughter’s sexuality.

Is this the perfect storm of crap? OK, I didn’t actually see any toilet jokes, but they’re probably in there.

(And yet another to file under “he’s the hero, of course the audience will like him, why should we bother to establish that he’s likeable?”.)

“One thing is for sure: as a culture, we need to get past the notion that a man is entitled to police his adult daughter’s sexuality.”

Not sure that’ll happen soon, people have been laughing about that since Aristophanes.
