12 Years a Slave trailer: “I don’t want to survive. I want to live.”

I’m bawling from just the trailer. It breaks my heart to know that human beings could treat other human beings like this, and that the perpetrators were considered normal, decent, and civilized… and considered themselves superior.

Forget slashers and serial killers. This is a horror movie.

As long as it doesn’t drown itself in all-whites-bad/all-blacks-good generic Hollywood glurge… Django Unchained got that right.

I dunno. Cast is first rate, but the film seems rather formulaic. I can’t help but think that the story will end with his liberation and reunion with his family, and will not include his later fruitless attempts at bringing those responsible for his abduction to justice.
