Salinger trailer: catcher of the wry?

Military intelligence, bunkers, inspiration for assassins, perving on 14-year-old girls. Just your ordinary genius.

My theory: Catcher in the Rye was written by aliens — probably the same ones who built the pyramids and make crop circles — and Salinger was merely their front man. If he even exists.

I hated that book. Original self-indulgent young white privileged male who thinks he’s god and Hurts So Bad Because Of It.

Amen. But he was the first to go on at such great length and make unlearnedness look erudite — the same trope that would later give rise to the Magical Negro — and so he is an Unassailable Classic.
