Attention Lars Von Trier fans. For one night only — tomorrow, Saturday, February 22nd — you’ve got the chance to see both Nymphomaniac Parts 1 and 2, four hours in all, followed by a Q&A by satellite from London with Stacy Martin (who plays the younger version of Charlotte Gainsbourg’s character) and Stellan Skarsgård. Apparently viewers from around the country will be able to ask questions via social media.
I don’t recommend the film — I have lots of problems with it, and it’s gotten a red light from me; I’ll review it soon — but this is a unique opportunity, and I thought you’d like to know about it if you’re inclined to see the film anyway.
Find cinemas and buy tickets at CurzonTickets.com.
Nymphomaniac opens as two separate films in the U.K. next week, and will be available on demand in the U.K. starting March 1st. In the U.S., Part 1 is on demand from March 6th and in theaters from March 21st; Part 2 is on demand from April 3rd, and then in theaters on April 18th.
Meanwhile, I’m still waiting for this movie:

See, it’s not exploitation, it’s exclusive!
Your grammar wrong, it should be “I have lots of PROBLEMS with it”.
whats wrong with it? it got rave reviews and the trailers look cool. OH WAIT, i’m guessing you are one of those women-suppoting critics and seeing as how the the trailer showed the girls being oversexualized and abused–I can see whats going on here. Anyways yeah thanks for the information. Will have my eye out for this one. Also i’m looking forward to your review since you rated this below “Filth” which you crowned worst of 2013. Which means this is worse than Movie 43 and Grown Ups 2 etc. hmmm.
Grade-A Prime irony?
Dat flick filosopher, she don’t speak inglish too good. and she uses too many big words…
Here you are again prancing around and bashing people on the comments. Go shove a dildo in your ass you son of a bitch.
And now Cupcakes is banned for being obnoxious and insulting.
It seems to be pretty easy to get banned from this site. Good luck getting “subscribers” you might as well just ban everyone, all the commenters seem to be the same people anyway.
I read Cupcake’s deleted comment, and it was absolutely ban-worthy.
In my experience, commenters are free to disagree all they want on this site. (Even many of the regular commenters here, including me, have disagreed with MaryAnn on several occasions.) You can even be snarky if you want. Here’s what I’ve seen getting people banned: hurling around ethnic and gender slurs; telling people to perform sex acts on themselves; acting like a schoolyard bully; writing clearly antagonistic, threatening, and hate-filled comments directed at the host or anyone on the site. Avoid doing those things, and you’ll be fine.
Yeah, I’ve been on sites where people got banned for holding opinions different from the site owner’s, and this isn’t one of them.
Seconding what Bluejay said. Poke around a bit and you’ll find plenty of disagreement. I could point you directly to a couple of threads I remember well, but that would take away the fun.
Signed, One Of Those Commenters Who “seem to be the same people anyway.”
Yup, it’s simple. Just hurl vile personal insults that have nothing to do with the subject under discussion.
Not sure if sockpuppet…
“…those women-supporting critics”? oh, wait. have you been nasty around here before?
Cupcakes was… I don’t know that I’d say nasty, but certainly obtuse, in the Blue is the Warmest Color thread.
good, yes, “obtuse.” but deliberately obtuse, i think.
At least I was asking about the movie rather than galavanting around and shaming other people’s comments.
You’re not really asking about the movie. You’re convinced MaryAnn is wrong about this one because you’ve disagreed with her in the past, and you’re just trying to sneer at her for having a feminist perspective.
Since you’ve already made up your mind, and you’ll never agree with her views, and you think she’s not trustworthy — why are you wasting your time here? Go read and enjoy the critics you agree with. Move along.
Yeah, deliberately obtuse is a better description.
Yeah, pointing out a typo and asking about her thoughts on the film is NASTY SHIT.
Pointing out a typo isn’t nasty — just ironic, because your comment is full of them. If you’re going to criticize someone else’s grammar, you’d better make sure yours is perfect.
You’re not asking about her thoughts on the film. You’re saying you already know what her thoughts are, and you’re dismissing her position in advance, as sarcastically as possible. I don’t know if that’s nasty, but it sure is immature.
Thanks for pointing out my typo. I’ve fixed it.
Yes, I am a woman-supporting critic.
Cool.
If a critic doesn’t support women, I’m not sure I’d trust that person’s reviews.
Are there critics who oppose women? Don’t answer that.
Critics who are too focused on how films perceive women aren’t too trustworthy. I mean, unless you’re a feminist, which most moviegoers aren’t.
-Not being hypocritical, I’m a gal too.
(A.) I find it hard to say that supporting women is a bad thing.
(B.) Most critics don’t focus nearly enough on how badly films portray women.
You are *really* at the wrong film-criticism site, woman.
I thought Nymphomaniac would be released today on demand? why don’t I see it?
Dunno where you are. It’s available in the UK today on Curzon on Demand. For the US, it’ll be on demand on March 6th.
where can I watch this? you said its on demand but i can’t find a torrent!
A torrent is not “on demand.”
If you are in the UK, both parts of the film are available to stream at Curzon on Demand, blinkbox, and BFI Player.
If you are in the US, Part One is available on iTunes and other on-demand services starting today.
I FOUND THEM!!!!!! Legit part I and II. I still await your review! I just hope it’s SUPER explicit aka constant sex is all I expect ;)
You’re going to be disappointed. Sounds like you should be watching porn instead.
Why? The trailer looked like porn. :P
Maybe. But, it’s von Trier, there’ll be Art in it. May I recommend Michael Lucas’s work instead? I think the website is lucas dot com. Far sexier and less pompous.
