curated: actors are allowed to speak publicly about their political opinions

I disagree with her, vehemently, but if Meryl Streep is “allowed” to talk about politics, so is Nicole Kidman.

Actors are citizens, and all citizens have the right to publicly express themselves. I’ve never understood why some people aren’t okay with this.

Because some people will take their opinions seriously because they’re public figures.

Humanity is broken. Let’s leave a nice world for the rats and cockroaches.

I agree with you actually. And they should be prepared to take any negative comments as well. I personally see NK’s comments as seeing she supports the office of the President, not the person specifically.

Here is what Zoe Saldana said the other day

“Zoe Saldana isn’t a Donald Trump supporter, but she’s facing backlash from some liberal fans after her recent comments about the President-elect. Saldana thinks bullying from Hollywood helped Trump pull off his surprising win in November.

“We got cocky and became arrogant and we also became bullies,” Saldana told AFP. “We were trying to single out a man for all these things he was doing wrong… and that created empathy in a big group of people in America that felt bad for him and that are believing in his promises.”

Saldana, like Kidman and Streep (and you and me), has the right to her opinion. She’s also dead wrong.

    I agree with you actually.

So Streep has the right to say what she said, and people have the right to applaud her if they like what she said. Glad we agree!

She absolutely can say what she pleases and people are also absolutely free to call her out and the others who cheered Polanski for their hypocrisy. Yes, glad we agree.

  • RicoSuave

Well to Saldhana’s credit she never cheered for Polanski. She’s not all bad ;)

I just heard a whole lot of actors (and other people) expressing their opinions and teaching at MLK Now 2017
