the odd mobile-phone ad starring Jeremy Renner that’s all over London

I’ve been seeing this ad all over London. For the life of me, I could not figure out why Jeremy Renner is in it, or what it’s supposed to mean. I wondered, Is he meant to be the Dad in some sort of wacky Incredibles-style family who all rely on this SIM for their superhero-family communications?

Then, from commenter Alison at Facebook, I learned that it makes more sense if you seen the TV ad from the same campaign:

I wasn’t far wrong! There is a reason why the ad looks like a poster for a cheesy 80s family action comedy.
