still loving ‘The Man in the High Castle’ (Season 2 open thread)

I’ve finished binging Season 2 of Amazon’s fantastic alternate-universe science-fiction drama, and it’s even better than the first season. All my raving over Season 1 still applies, though much of my speculation about what is going on appears to have been wrong. I suspected that the Nazis had a device that was letting them peek into alternate timelines, but it seems that the films showing world events taking a different path are being brought into this world solely by people who are able to cross between them. Though that could still be proven wrong in Season 3!

My quick no-spoiler assessment: This is a show we really need right now. If there’s an overarching theme to this second batch of 10 episodes, it’s that maintaining your sense of right and wrong is essential when a culture is trying to warp morality. Standing up against the normalization of things you know are bad could literally save the world.

The thread is yours. Assume the comments are full of spoilers.

I’m looking forward to watching this season but dreading it at the same time. I’m worried that it’ll feel less like speculative fiction and more like a documentary.

The first season is on my Amazon “Watch List,” which, unfortunately, these days means “Shows I Will Never Really Watch.”
