August: Osage County trailer: this Christmas’s feel-bad flick
Don’t let this somewhat chipper collection of hugs and gentle ribbing mislead you…

Don’t let this somewhat chipper collection of hugs and gentle ribbing mislead you…

Stories about vigilantes are always problematic for me, and few films get it right. So I shall be approaching this one with caution.

Goddammit. I was not a fan of the guy, but this sucks.

Glad to see that someone is finally telling the untold stories about men and violence, and the relationships between brothers and fathers and sons. We never see such things on the big screen.

And enjoy the trailer here…

“Better to light up the church than curse the single miracle candle,” wasn’t it?

A science fiction film! About ideas! How wonderful.

If I’d seen this trailer before I saw the film (at this year’s London Film Festival), I’m not sure I’d be all that impressed with it.

So, even though this opens in the U.S. and Canada tomorrow, I am embargoed from posting my review till next Monday…

It’s been two years since I’ve been home to New York for Christmas, and I’ll be in London for the holidays this year, so this will probably make me homesick.
