The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part I movie review: image manipulation
One of the best SF series ever deepens its critique of the power of propaganda in ways complicated, intriguingly contradictory, and a little bit horrifying.

Smaug is a magnificent cinematic creation… but there’s no good reason it takes so damn long to get to him.

The Hobbit 2 is like a joke title meant to highlight Hollywood’s vacuousness. Jackson’s gonna have to work hard to live that down.

By god, Peter Jackson is going to squeeze all the epicness he can out of The Hobbit, even if it kills us.

By Durin’s beard, this is magnificent!

Public perception and police misconduct take well-deserved raps here, as do larger issues of American injustice…
No, not all who wander are lost. But doesn’t mean that some who wander aren’t lost. Such as Peter Jackson, with his first-of-three-parts big-screen adaptation of The Hobbit.
