trailer break: ‘500 Days of Summer’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer…

Really? Really? Another quirky indie romantic comedy that’s all sad and morose instead of upbeat and chirpy? Really?

Actually, this is a wonderful movie. So wonderful that I wanna see it again, which I don’t usually want to do with romantic comedies. But there’s this one bit — don’t worry, I’m not gonna spoil it — that is absolutely one of the most perfect little bits of movie stuff ever.

Also, you can never go wrong with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. You just can’t.

500 Days of Summer opens in the U.S. on July 17, and the U.K. on September 4.

The trailer seems to be a Say Anything for a new generation. JGL definitely has a John Cusack appeal. Does the movie actually play out this way?

The movie jumps randomly from day 488 to day 1 to day 231 etc.

It’s definitely one of the best films of the year.

With you green-lighting it and the trailer beginning with a Regina Spectre song, hey, I’ll take a chance – plus, of course, ZD and the guy from 3rd Rock.

Saw it this weekend. I hope we get a full review MAJ, cause I’d like to see your full thoughts on this. My wife and I loved it.
I love Zooey Deschanel as well.
