trailer break: ‘The Young Victoria’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer…

Romance! Intrigue! Royalty! Politics! Assassination! Ruffles! Sideburns!

What’s not to love?

Don’t tell anybody — shhh! — but all of a sudden, between this film and Creation (both of which I’ve now seen), I suddenly have a little bit of a crush on Paul Bettany. It’s probably just the costumes, but still, it’s nice.

The Young Victoria is already available on DVD in the U.K.; it opens in the U.S. on December 18.

I think everyone should have a crush on Paul Bettany.

I finally watched this the other day on Sky Box Office and I really enjoyed it. It’s a feast for the eyes as far as location and costume design, but I also think Emily Blunt is one to watch out for.

I’m sure it’s a well made movie, but I have to wonder if one could travel in time to see things as they were if these “historical” films bear even a vague resemblance to the actual people and events they purport to portray.
