trailer break: ‘MacGruber’ redband trailer

Take a break from work: watch a trailer…

I know I’m dating myself when I say that I don’t watch Saturday Night Live because it hasn’t been funny since about 1984. And this kind of crap is why. It really pisses me off to see SNL making fun of my longtime boyfriend MacGyver like this. (This movie is based on a recurring SNL sketch. And we know the track record on those movies.) I mean, if you’re gonna make fun of something — and certainly there’s plenty to poke fun at even in a classic 80s masterpiece like MacGyver — at least be funny about it. At least bear some breath of a passing resemblance to what you’re making fun of.

Angus MacGyver did not use guns, okay? Like, never. Geez.

And Mac was a gentleman. He wouldn’t make date-rape jokes. Or defecation jokes. He’d make hockey jokes. Well, probably not. He’d probably get annoyed if someone else made a hockey joke. But still.

Dieter Von Cunth. Really? What, in case someone accidentally says “Cunt” instead? Come on.

MacGruber opens in the U.S. (and probably Canada) on April 23; no U.K. release date has been announced.

Richard Dean Anderson did do a guest spot on an SNL Macgruber – as Macgruber’s dad.

I like the skit, but I am not so sure about the movie. I would love a funny homage spoof style movie, but this doesn’t look like that kind of thing.

Yes, in his childhood young Angus was fooling around with a gun with all his buddies and his pal Jesse got shot accidentally.

And all Mac’s friends ran off and left poor Jesse lying there. So MacGyver made a litter out of some sticks and shit, and dragged the shot boy to the hospital with his bike.

That’s why MacGyver doesn’t use guns. Also Cuba Gooding Jr. got mixed up in gangs in that same episode, and got shot at the end which reminded Mac of his childhood and further reinforced his anti-gun stance. Cuba was all right though. I think it was just a flesh wound.

Ugh… Macgyver has never , and will never be more successfully parodied than by Amanda Tapping during that SG1 out-take “Macuseless!”

This movie looks like the worst kind of obnoxious crap. The only smile I cracked was towards the end of the trailer when he doesn’t know what to do with all the wires in the nuke. I gotta admit that I did occasionally want Macgyver to crack open a panel and say “What the fuck? What’s with all these wires!?”

“Dieter Von Cunth. Really? What, in case someone accidentally says “Cunt” instead? Come on.”

“FlickFilosopher”???. I don’t get it. Why didn’t you use “ph”?

This film is parodying movies from the 80s, which featured villains that had ridiculous names like “Dieter Von Cunth”. They’re laughing at the same thing you are. The people who made this movie were ready to do anything to get a laugh. If they thought using the word “cunt” would have made the movie funnier, then they would of.

I watched this movie yesterday. I was laughing non-stop. The humor in this movie was incredibly ridiculous but also incredibly smart. Unfortunately, the typical elitist-prick-reviewer does not possess the intelligence to see this.
