retro trailer: ‘Blazing Saddles’

Take a look back at an old trailer…

For some mysterious reason that I can’t quite put my finger on, Jonah Rex, which is opening on Friday, is putting me in mind of this movie.

Interesting how this trailer doesn’t come anywhere near spoiling the best jokes of the film, doesn’t give away the plot (such as there is), and doesn’t do anything except tease the audience with a taste of what they’re in for, rather than making them feel as if they’ve already seen the whole film.

I thought that was the point of trailers, but you’d never know that to look at those we get today.

Blazing Saddles is available on DVD in Region 1 from Amazon.com and from Amazon.ca and in Region 2 from Amazon U.K.

Oh, how I loved this movie. Gene Wilder was fabulous as Jim and Mel Brooks’ schtick as the Yiddish speaking indian was priceless. Thanks MaryAnn. That made my day.
