trailer break: ‘Wild Target’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer…

It’s all funny, see, because the car is little. Little car!

Bill Nighy should have asked to see Ron Weasley’s Hogwarts transcript before he invited the kid to be his assistant assassin. Kid can’t even handle a magic wand — a gun in his possession could be downright dangerous.

Wild Target opens today in the U.K.; it opens in the U.S. and Canada on October 8.

In the UK all our cars are that small. I think the film is funny because we are a little country and some of the people we recognise are being allowed on the big screen to work with a proper American starlet. Gosh!

I’m frankly amazed that John Woo has never killed a villain by having the hero disassemble the gun and launch the trigger mechanism through his eye. What a sadly missed opportunity.

Beats another boring SUV joke…

Emily Blunt’s first notable American role–in The Devil Wears Prada–had her speaking with a very noticeable English accent. Where did people get the idea that she was American? Because she played Amy Adams’ sister in an American movie?

The late Laurence Olivier once played Neil Diamond’s father in a movie. I don’t recall anyone mistaking him for a Yank because of it.

A hitman with a heart

All together now…

“From the halls of Montezuma
to the shores of Tripoli,
there was a leatherneck braver.
A daring dragoon was he….”

Perhaps Bruce Campbell should have been playing that role.

I laughed! I like the mix of actors in there, and Nighy and Blunt seem like they have great comic timing together. Though it looks like she’s the only woman in the movie, going by that trailer. Eileen Atkins is also listed in the IMDb, and the only other women are credited as Hotel Receptionists. But the screenplay’s by a woman, too, so yay.

Hey, I kid the movie! I can’t wait to see it. I adore Blunt, and I totally want to have Nighy’s babies.

Oh, I’ve been to England many times, and driven the cars. They are not all that small. :->

According to the reviews I’ve seen this unfortunately doesn’t appear to be very good.

What about a “trailer break” for Never Let Me Go? I’m curious…
