Is it somehow meant to be more suspenseful that the protagonist here doesn’t remember who he is and doesn’t remember the secret military program he’s part of and doesn’t remember what he’s supposed to be doing? Is that meant to make him more sympathetic to us miserable peons watching, we regular folk who are not elite soldiers with access to science-fictional equipment? This does not bode well for anyone who’d like something other than the usual Hollywood junk. For one thing, it means a ridiculous info dump like what we get in the trailer.
It also doesn’t bode well when it looks like Quantum Leap did the same thing 20 years ago.
More reasons to despair: this is from Duncan Jones, who appears to have decided to follow up his brilliant Moon by selling out. Nice one.
