John Dies at the End (redband trailer)

The title alone — which I’ve been hearing for months — has made me want to see this movie, just to discover what sort of film it could possibly belong to. I had no idea whatsoever what the movie was about, and now that I see the trailer… yeah, I need to see this. Bonus need-to-see points for the Bubba Ho-Tep connection.

I promise not to spoil the ending.

This is from David Wong’s book (writes for Cracked.com).

I find it difficult to read the “words” I’m supposed to understand to get permission to post.
I don’t like this impediment.

David Wong is the best Cracked writer, though I realize that may be faint praise. His articles are really good though.

Yes, they are. I got a tad frustrated by the novel, however, and kinda raced toward the end.
It was just a tad TOO clever and convoluted for its own good.  And I NEVER thought they could make a movie from it!

The novel was truly bizarre and I am concerned at how some of it will translate to the screen….. we shall see.

The twist is that (spoiler protection) and that (still classified) while another (unnamed character) is (waiver agreement requires we not reveal this part) using a (obscure farm animal reference).

Comedic horror can be very fine, but… when anything else goes wrong, it can be funny. When comedy goes wrong, it’s nothing. So colour me cautious.
