in a pressurized enviroment, they can hear you scream (Europa Report trailer)

Yay! Sharlto Copley is back.

I have often lamented that lack of true science fiction in the visual media, so I love that this looks like it might be real SF. And it’s a shame that we so rarely see movies about near future space exploration. So yay for that, too.

Yes indeed!

I’m cautious because I’m always cautious, but this looks much more interesting than any other trailer I’ve seen this year.

I like the way “APPROPRIATE AUDIENCES” appears in five-foot-high letters at the beginning of the trailer. Kids! Cover your eyes!

What part of “Attempt No Landing There” didn’t they understand?

Oh god I *hope* some character in this flick references that. *fingers crossed*

Since he’s also in Elysium it seems that we get two SciFi movies with Sharlto this year!

I meant Copley before my *District 9* screening, before I knew how frakkin’ awesome he was gonna be in that movie, and we had the bestest geeky conversation about science fiction. I wish he was showing up in more movies in all genres, but I’m not surprised that he seems to be gravitating toward SF, because he takes this stuff seriously.

Looks good. Puts me in mind of Sunshine, which I enjoyed.

Phil Plait over at Bad Astronomy got to see an advance preview on this, and thought it was great.

Despite bashing “speculative fiction” snobbery in an earlier comment, it’s nice to see a film that tries for a realistic take on the near future, if only for the novelty value. :)

Looked fantastic until it became yet another monster movie. I hope we get more of the cool science fiction, and less monster stuff.

You need to see it, let’s say there is a bit of misdirection in the teaser about what it is actually about. In retrospect, the “moster movie” vibe of the trailer now feels more like a subtle “take that” to apollo 18 and its ilk and is evoked mildly ironically… sarcastically? is that a thing? hmm…

I DID see it! About 2 weeks ago. Great movie. Definitely not a monster movie.
