evening clickbait: the Spike Lee Oldboy poster controversy gets weirder; apparently Philomena is unfair to nice Catholic nuns who saved innocent babies from whorish mothers

• The Spike Lee Oldboy poster controversy gets weirder: the artist who posted an open letter to Lee about the theft of his art has deleted that post. For more, see “Designer Claims His ‘Oldboy’ Poster Artwork Was Stolen, Spike Lee Responds” [Indiewire]

• This was inevitable: Apparently Philomena is unfair to those nice Catholic nuns who saved innocent babies from whorish mothers and rightfully shamed slutty slut sluts. “Philomena Lee responds to bizarre New York Post review” [The Irish Times]

Armond White, at least, is delightfully, insanely pretentious. His reviews are entertaining, if baffling

This is what I was afraid of: the argument has now been framed as “all nuns are evil horror-monsters” vs “all nuns are saints in waiting”. So when someone meets a nun who isn’t a caricature of evil, they’ll be more easily fooled.
