Filmmaker Guy Ritchie ups his modern-day streets-of-London criminal game with his hilarious 2020 flick The Gentlemen. Framed by the ultimate unreliable narrator — Hugh Grant’s gloriously disgusting journalist — this is the tale of Matthew McConaughey’s American marijuana magnate abroad as he fields buyout offers that take into consideration the fact that his business is surely going to go legal quite soon. With a terrific cast that also features Henry Golding, Colin Farrell, Michelle Dockery, and Jeremy Strong, this sublime black comedy crackles with cynicism about capitalism, culture, and politics.
