trailer break: ‘Fast & Furious’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer…

“A lot has changed”? Nothing has changed! It’s the same movie over and over again — they even recycled the title this time! Is dropping the thes really enough to make sure people don’t confuse this with the first movie… or is keeping the title almost identical to the first one Hollywood’s way of finally acknowledging that they’re most definitely not looking to be original in any way? That kind of honesty would be refreshing, at least, if in an aha-I-knew-it! kind of way.

You’v heard that joke about the ultimate high-concept movie, haven’t you? “She’s a chimp. He’s the pope. They’re cops!” This trailer makes me want to say: “Walker’s a cop. Diesel’s not a cop. They’re cops!”

Fast & Furious opens in the U.S. on April 3, and in the U.K. on April 10.

Heh, the first time I saw the trailer on TV, my first thought was a blase, ‘Fast & Furious, huh? Some station’s airing that this weekend?’

Then the ‘In theaters soon’ line appears, and I am left feeling very confused… =)

I’m already giggling over the potention “primate” puns in your chimp/pope buddy cop movie.

A co-worker saw this last month and complained that the two main draws in the first film – actual practical/stunt car chases and shirtless Vin Diesel – had pretty much disappeared. So if you were planning on going just to see cars go fast and beefcake, be advised that there’s a lot of CG and shirts in the film.
