trailer break: ‘Public Enemies’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer…

Remember: It’s wrong — it’s totally wrong — to glamorize crime and criminals. That’s why John Dillinger, who was a bad man, a very bad man, is being played by ultrasexy Johnny Depp. So that no one gets the idea that criminals are sexy.

Yes, this trailer makes my toes curl, as a movie geek, and as a girl. It’s like O Brother, Where Art Thou? meets Miller’s Crossing. With Johnny Depp. Oh, and also with Christian Bale, Billy Crudup, and David Wenham. Because criminals are not at all sexy. Not at all.

The movie geek part of my is curling her toes over Michael Mann, who is one of my very favorite directors, and also over Giovanni Ribisi, who rocks, and Rory Cochrane, whom I said a few years ago I thought was going to be a major star, he so rocks, too, and maybe this is now his chance.

Public Enemies opens in the U.S. on July 1, and in the U.K. on July 3.

The ugly use of digital in the trailer makes me sad, since I thought “Miami Vice” looked terrible and Mann seems to be sticking with that format. But still, the cast and premise have me excited.

i think the use of digital give an image more dynamic! because this story seems very classic with very impeccable(“clean”)actors!
