Congratulations to Sandra Bullock for having the distinction of being the only actor to be both nominated for a Razzie and an Oscar in the same year! That’s some range!

I’ll never understand the G.I. Joe hate. ““action-figures-come-to-life” 9-Year-Old-Boy-Movie” is exactly spot on, which is what GI Joe has always been and should be. They thankfully ignored the direction of Transformers 2 by not ripping out the guts of the franchise and replacing it with sex, crude humor and slo-mo.

Isn’t calling Michael Bay the worst director redundant?

Uh… because GI Joe was a horrible movie even from the standpoint of someone who just wanted to see the silly old cartoons come to life on the big screen? MAJ’s review covers why that movie sucked even for fanboys. I mean… No mention of Cobra Commander other than the surprise bad-guy at one point says “Call me commander”, and an earlier scene suggested that he thinks cobras are neat?

Making Snake Eyes vs Storm Shadow boring? I’ll never forgive them for that. :P

I do like how they at least kept the everyone-miraculously-survives aspect. ‘Cept for old Stormy who pulled an Emperor.

This might be the one year there’s a three-way tie for Worst Movie – GI Ohnoe, Land of Please Stay Lost and Transformers Stop Michael Bay At All Costs.

Not that I was hugely impressed by GI Joe from any standpoint because it did have its flaws. But there is a reason there was no mention of Cobra Commander other than the guy who liked cobras and later said call me commander. And that’s because until the end of the movie, there was no group called Cobra, and no Cobra Commander. It’s called Rise Of Cobra, not because the group throughout the hole movie IS Cobra, but because it’s how Cobra came about. You can’t mention a character thats non existent. There’s not even a Destro til the end. The worst things about the movie were to many flashbacks and The Baroness going good, which I don’t ever remember happening.

And there still wasn’t at the end of the movie. I mean, if you already know who Cobra and Cobra Commander are, you can infer that the Commander who likes cobras is going to later decide he wants to be called Cobra Commander, and that if he reconstructs an evil group from the wreckage of the one that was just, um, wrecked, he’ll call it Cobra, but there’s still no Cobra at the end of the film.

I get it’s “Cobra Rising”, but my point is, before the end of the movie Cobra should be Risen and be the clear nemesis. It’d be like having a movie called Return of the Jedi, but no Jedi actually show up (because they’re in the process of Returning, you see, and not actually Returned) until the last minute of the film, and even then you kinda have to guess based on his nondescript robe and even-keeled demeanor.

There’s not even a Destro til the end.

More like there was a Destro — a bad-ass arms dealer ultimately out for himself — that wasn’t called Destro, until the end where he ceased to be Destro except in name. :P
