What my followers on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ saw today:
• Enjoy this music video from I Am Kloot. Nice little story, plus it stars John Simm. I Am Kloot – Some Better Day
• So, can I presume that in its wall-to-wall coverage of the latest cruise from hell, CNN took some time to delve into how underpaid and overworked cruise-ship employees are, how the cruise companies skimp on cleaning and maintenance because it cuts into profits — you know, likely contributing factors to this minor disaster? Nah, I didn’t think so… CNN mistakes cruise ship story for Normandy landing
• Cool! Here’s Why So Many Russians Have Dash Cams — and Why They Caught a Meteror
• Somewhere, Michael Bay is scoffing. Everyone else: This is amazing and kinda horrifying. Meteor shards hit Russia after explosion in the sky – video
• Harry Potter diehard completists to get soaked again. ‘Harry Potter’ Books Get New Covers!
(hat-tip for today’s links: LaSargenta, @lescarr)
[~yawn~] This found footage stuff is getting so overdone.
Can’t remember who tweeted it yesterday, but “Every Russian with a dash cam has now made a better asteroid-hits-Earth movie than Michael Bay.”
I like that new cover for the HP paperbacks. It’s reminiscent of Mary GrandPre’s work on the original covers, but makes its own impact.
And LOL at the Twitter comments about ‘every Russian with a dash cam has now made a better asteroid-hits-the-Earth movie than Michael Bay’.
YOU say, “Harry Potter diehard completists to get soaked again.” Harry Potter diehard completists say, “Hallelujah, new Harry Potter stuff to buy!”
The footage of doors blowing off… of the people knocked back on their feet… of the shifting shadows as the meteor explodes in the atmosphere brighter than the sun… Michael Bay’s meteor stuff never had this attention to detail…
has anyone ASKED Michael Bay what he thinks about the Russian meteor hit?
Key thing to remember: it’s not so much the impact that’s dangerous, at least for small objects, but what it does to the atmosphere as it slows down…
