The Call (trailer)

I’ve been hearing some terrible things about this trailer, so I figured it was time to check it out for myself. And yeah, it pretty much is the worst trailer ever, mostly because it does appear to roll out the entire film in a more complete way than any other spoilerish trailer has ever done before.

The awful bits left over after that are mostly about how this looks like a retread of Cellular, which isn’t a movie that needed to be trod over again.

Most depressing thing? This is from Brad Anderson, who in the past has made some intriguing indie films including Happy Accidents and Session 9 and The Machinist. This is what happens when filmmakers like him go Hollywood.

Wow, WWE entertainment sure knows how to make lousy movies with reactionary storylines in which crime is the result of eville, eville individuals as opposed as being one of the results of the social policy of rugged individualism that it continually promotes through its movies and wrestling storylines.

Oh, no! A pretty white woman is in danger from a Bad Man! I’ve never seen that in a film before…

I got more of a “Taken, with Halle Berry as a 911 operator in place of Liam Neeson’s CIA operative” vibe.

“I have a very particular set of skills. I will trace you…I will direct the cops to you…and if they don’t get the wrong house and shoot an unarmed elderly man in a wheelchair in the face, they will kill you. Or maybe your hostage.”

I love these kinds of films and I actually saw this one. A friend took me to the screening in La last night and it was amazing. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and there are many many thrills and surprises that are not in the trailer. I won’t spoil it by saying but, i will say this, go see this film you will not be disappointed. It totally delivers for the genre and the performances are terrific. just saying…..
