The Banshees of Inisherin, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Women Talking tie for the most awards, at four apiece.

My pick: Vincent Lambe’s controversial and profoundly harrowing “Detainment,” a dramatization of the real-life police interrogations of the 10-year-old boys who killed a toddler in England in 1993.

My pick: I suspect that this year’s winner will be “Garden Party,” a spectacular debut from new French animation studio Illogic that I am sure we will be seeing a lot more stunning work from.

This delicately realized portrait of an intellectual Tehran couple could easily be taking place in New York, London, or Tokyo. The empathy machine strikes again.

It’s all a bit satirical. Or maybe not. Look, over there, Shakespeare in a superhero cape!

This is really hard to take when it’s supposedly the work of people who think Jesus has their back.
Still, someone needs to be curating all these movies, finding the ones that are worth seeing and promoting them to movie lovers.
